  About Us

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) Screening for Breast Cancer, Carotid Artery Disease, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Coronary Artery Disease, Back Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and many other medical issues.

At New England Clinical Thermography we specialize in the taking of digital infrared images, appropriate to the condition, to help Physicians, Patients and other practitioners identify problem conditions. Image interpretation is by Medical Doctors (MDs) who are certified as interpreters of Medical Infrared Images by the American College of Clinical Thermography. Reports are provided to referring physicians and/or patient as requested. Infrared thermography cameras produce images of invisible infrared or "heat" radiation and provide precise, non-contact temperature measurement capabilities.

An infrared camera is a non-contact device that detects infrared energy (heat) and converts it into an electronic signal, which is then processed to produce a thermal image on a video monitor and perform temperature calculations. Heat sensed by an infrared camera can be very precisely quantified, or measured, allowing you to not only monitor thermal performance, but also identify and evaluate the relative severity of heat-related problems.

The camera does not put out any radiation but measures the radiation coming from an object/person.

Electromagnetic Spectrum

Infrared Imaging is used for Medical, Veterinary, Building Science, Electrical Assessment, Industrial Preventative Maintenance, Military, Security and many other applications where imaging of heat is critical.

Electrical Transformers and Computer Chips

Infrared Images contain a temperature measurement for each pixel in the image.

This allows interpreters to use software to compare temperature changes:
  • Side to side in an image
  • Specific areas, such as part of a breast, to identical areas on the other breast
  • Or to the same area in an image taken at another time.

Every object above absolute zero (-273 C) emits some infrared heat radiation. Cameras designed to detect in the proper range are used for medical applications.
